Kelli & Marcel // Cottonwood Golf Club

Every once in a while, I’ll do a wedding where the family is involved, so not only do I get to know the couple, but I get to know their family as well. I cannot say enough good things about Kelli, Marcel and Kelli’s parents, Lisa & Glen. I truly enjoyed working with them, and the entire wedding day was so great that I wish I could do it again! I loved that they kept the rustic decor simple, and let their love for one another fill the entire space of the venue. The reception florals were DIY, and even the succulent favors were created by the bride with the help of family and friends. Special touches like that helped ensure that their day way truly unique. I’m so thankful to have been a part of their special day, and to have met such a special group of people <3

Rory & Derick // Coronado Beach

Rory & Derick // Coronado Beach

I loved every single minute of helping to plan Rory & Derick’s laid-back beach wedding, and can honestly say nothing but good things about these two. Majority of their wedding was planned from afar, and leading up to the wedding, there was absolutely no stress from these two. The entire time they were in town seemed like a big, fun family celebration of love and I think that contributed to a light carefree atmosphere on their wedding day. Rory & Derick opted to keep their wedding ceremony simple and sweet, with a standing service on the beach. The party continued on the Berkley Maritime Museum where a great time was certainly had by all. I think that Derick danced more than any groom I’ve ever seen before – so major props to him for that! Congrats again to Rory & Derick (you guys are awesome!), and thanks to my buddy CJ for these awesome photos:) Enjoy!

Delia + John // Cuvier Club

Delia + John // Cuvier Club

I cannot say enough good things about Delia & John. To say that it was fun working with these two would be an understatement. Delia has the sweetest persona, and John is truly a great guy with an awesome sense of humor. Their entire wedding was a BLAST, from their selfie posed grand entrance, all the way through their soul train line grand exit. One of my favorite highlights of the night was when John surprised Delia with a group dance him and his friends had worked together to create. Delia was so surprised, and it was so great to be able to witness her reaction first hand. I’m so excited to share the photos from their big day with you all:)

Amber + Tim // Backyard Wedding

Amber + Tim // Backyard Wedding

I’m so excited to share photos from Amber & Tim’s backyard wedding from this summer with you all. Amber & Tim had purchased a home together with a lovely backyard, and thought it would be perfect for their intimate wedding (and it was!). One of my favorite parts of the day was when Amber surprised Tim with her processional song selection. She had recorded him playing the guitar to “She Talks to Angels” early on in their relationship, and used the recording to walk down the aisle. As soon as Tim recognized it was him playing his bride down the aisle, he teared up, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. Their backyard wedding was much like their personalities – very laid back and lots of fun! I hope you all enjoy the photos, and congrats again to Amber and Tim!ambertim172of629

Joanna + Nate // Hyatt Regency Mission Bay

Joanna + Nate // Hyatt Regency Mission Bay

The first time I spoke with Joanna, I immediately knew that we needed to work together – we had that instant click I’m always looking for when I book with clients. Joanna’s wedding was one of my favorites of 2016. When I saw both her and Nate on their wedding day, they just had this glow and attitude of “whatever happens today doesn’t matter because I’m marrying my best friend”. That being said – their wedding was absolutely perfect, and love was in the air for the entire duration of their wedding. There were also a lot of funny moments, including when they turned their welcome speech into a lost and found announcement for a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses they found after the ceremony. All of their guests had a wonderful time, and I’m hoping Joanna and Nate do a yearly vow renewal because yes, they were that great;) Wishing the two of them nothing but love and happiness – I know their wedding day is just the beginning of many wonderful memories to come.

Thank you as always to our wonderful group of vendors that helped make Joanna & Nate’s day an amazing one:)

Crystal & Shimshone // Japanese Friendship Garden Sneak Peek

Crystal & Shimshone // Japanese Friendship Garden Sneak Peek

I have several favorite memories from Crystal and Shimshone’s wedding weekend, but one of the best moments was at the rehearsal at the Japanese Friendship Garden. Crystal and I were talking about the layout of how we want to do the rehearsal and Shimshone arrived and had the biggest smile on his face. That is until I asked if he was ready for tomorrow, and his smile got even bigger as he said “Of course.” This beautiful couple was all smiles all the time, there was never a look of nerves on their faces. The family and friends that came to the wedding were all full of energy and full of love for these two wonderful people. The Japanese Friendship Garden was a beautiful wedding venue with so many trees, plants, flowers and a gorgeous pond which all made for the perfect background for the photos. Crystal and Shimshone are a wonderful couple and we wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.

Lauren & Thomas // Martin Johnson House

Lauren & Thomas // Martin Johnson House

The first time I had a meeting with Lauren & Thomas, it was incredibly apparent that these two were made for each other. Just being around them for a few minutes, I was able to tell that these two had a very special and unique bond – I was absolutely honored to be a part of their wedding day. Lauren and Thomas were the perfect combination of organized and laid-back. It was so much fun working with them that I left our meetings (and even their wedding day) feeling energized! The week of their wedding, the weather was touch-and-go, and it looked like it might rain. Luckily, the day ended up being picture perfect, and the view was stunning from Martin Johnson House in La Jolla. The big day was full of personalized touches that the guests loved, including the bride’s cousin singing during the ceremony, and the couple’s impeccably choreographed first dance. One of my favorite highlights of the day was when the bride’s father made a toast to the newlyweds. During his toast, he pulled out a coupon book that Lauren gave him as a child. He had wanted to cash-in on some of the coupons (raking a pile of leaves, a car wash, etc.), but he read the fine print during his toast, and was disappointed to discover that the coupons had expired a few years ago! I hope that you’ll all enjoy the photos from this lovely couple’s big day, and congrats to Lauren & Thomas again – you two are wonderful and we’re wishing you nothing but the best in married life together!

Katie & Thomas // Oceanview Room

Katie & Thomas // Oceanview Room

If I had to choose two words to describe Katie & Tom’s wedding, I’d say fun and bold. Their wedding colors were black and white, with touches of gold and hot pink (think Kate Spade inspired), and they had a donut bar in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. I LOVED it! Very non-traditional, very fun. Katie’s dad also constructed a vintage door backdrop for their ceremony – how cool is that?! I think that what I liked the most about their wedding was that it truly seemed like a celebration of love. They looked genuinely happy every time I saw them – there was no stress, just love <3. So – without further delay – I’m so happy to share these photos with you all – they’re absolutely gorgeous! Congrats again to Katie & Tom:)

Mexi-Cali Wedding Inspiration (styled shoot)

Mexi-Cali Wedding Inspiration (styled shoot)

I’m super excited to blog about this amazing shoot we did with talented CJ Thomas Photography and our AMAZING dream team of vendors at Quail Haven Farm. Coming up on Cinco De Mayo, I wanted to do something that was bold and colorful, a bit different than the lighter colors of spring. Fox Floral Design provided the gorgeous, bold flowers for the shoot. We used Cedar & Pine Event’s farmhouse tables and benches – and boy are they gorgeous! Sidenote: since the shoot, they’ve also created belly bars to match this existing set – you guys have to check them out. Cheri’s Vintage Table provided colored glassware for a pop of color to pair with her lovely plateware and vintage silverware. I was really excited to go dress shopping for the shoot. The dresses at D’Angelo Couture are absolutely beautiful. The dress used at the shoot was custom designed by the owner, Diane D’Angelo, and was taken to NY Bridal Fashion week just two days after the shoot to be worn on the runway (how cool is that!?). The cake and dessert bar was custom designed by none other than the talented Jenny Williams of JennyWenny Cakes. To keep with the Mexi-Cali theme, the cake incorporated elements of Mexican culture, including sugar skulls (Día de Muertos) and paper picados. Jenny also created cinnamon flavored macaroons, sugar skull cookies and Mexican wedding cookies for the dessert bar as well. Special shoutouts to Friar Tux (groom’s tux), Dalana Rattler (makeup), and I Invite You (paper goods and paper picados – the paper picados were a fun and playful addition to the sweetheart table).

Ashley & Graham // Grand Tradition Estate

Ashley & Graham // Grand Tradition Estate

Ashley and Graham were one of the most fun couples I’ve had the chance to work with in my career. For starters, they were based in Korea, which meant that most of our meetings were done via Skype. Let me tell you – I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much during Skype meetings as I have with these two. Even though most of their wedding was planned from afar (which would usually be an added stress for most), their sense of humor never seemed to dim throughout the wedding process. I was also fortunate enough to work with Ashley’s mother, Rhonda for our face-to-face meetings, who has been the kindest, most organized mother-of-the-bride I’ve ever worked with. It was just a pleasant experience all-around:)

Ashley & Graham’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful. Ashley had decided early on to go with a classy Christmas theme (their wedding was in December), which fun touches of personalization. Some of my favorite details were the mistletoe ball under the wedding canopy, and their Nightmare Before Christmas cake (seriously, coolest cake I’ve ever seen!). I think that everyone in attendance at their wedding would have to agree that the high point of the night was the couple’s grand entrance. Ashley is a USC alumni, and was a part of the Trojan Marching band in college. That being said, it was only fitting that the band played Ashley & Graham into the reception! It gets better – Ashley actually played with the band and several of her wedding guests (including members of the bridal party). How cool is that!? The day gets better – later in the night Graham surprised Ashley by playing his guitar and singing her a song. After that, Ashley’s mom surprised both Ashley and Graham with a hot chocolate and espresso bar the bride and groom were sent off in style with a sparkler grand exit.

Needless to say, I loved their wedding and their guests surely loved their wedding as well. Congrats again, Ashley & Graham!
