Roxanne & David flew to San Diego from Iowa a few weeks ago for a very productive few days of wedding planning. I had the pleasure of meeting with them two of the days they were here, and we accomplished a lot, despite the downpour of rain (thanks, El Nino!). I’m so happy to be working with these two (they are seriously the sweetest couple ever!), and I’m glad that the rain let up to allow Aga Jones to take some fabulous photos of them!
Roxanne & David’s love story:
We’re both graduate students at the University of Iowa (I’m in law school, he’s in med school), and we met during finals week – perfect timing – haha! We had mutual friends and didn’t know it at the time, but we officially met on the app Coffee Meets Bagel when we both used our “points” to match with each other! Our first couple of dates were to “study” at coffee shops, and we’ve been together ever since 🙂
David actually proposed the same week he first met my parents! He flew in a couple of days before New Year’s Day, and my parents automatically loved him (whew!) – during my parent’s annual New Year’s Eve Party, he asked my dad if he could propose. The next day (New Year’s Day), we went to Castello Di Amorosa in Napa for a wine tasting tour – the castle produces amazing wine and has beautiful views of the valley! After our tour, David kept saying he wanted to check out the South Tower again, so we ended up going back. The tower is pretty secluded, and we got to look at the views surrounding the castle privately one more time! David seemed to keep trying to talk to me about something, but families and children would periodically drift into the tower by accident. After a while, I guess he couldn’t wait anymore (I think the nerves got to him haha), and the next thing I know, he’s on his knee and proposing while a mom and her little boy were watching! I start crying, because it was a total surprise and I was incredibly excited my best friend proposed :). Later on, we ran into the lady who was in the tower with us and she (and her adorable son) apologized for interrupting a private moment but it turns out she took a picture of my reaction and the proposal happening! It was definitely an amazing way to start the year :).
I would probably say that I’m most excited to finally celebrate the fact that I’m going to be with my best friend forever and we get to celebrate it with the people we love in the city we love! As cheesy as that may sound, I’m super thrilled and excited to marry David, and celebrating with our friends in sunny San Diego is just icing on the cake for us :). The wedding’s just the beginning of our lifetime of adventures, as we always say! Haha.
