Unique Wedding Favor Ideas

Unique Wedding Favor Ideas

If you were to do a web search of wedding favor options, you would be presented with pages upon pages of choices. Long gone are the days of Jordan almonds and bubbles as there are options to fit nearly every budget and theme. If you are still having trouble deciding what favors to offer to your guests after tackling the multitude of pages and posts with ideas, this post is for you!

One of our favorite favor options is personalized matchbooks. While seemingly ordinary, matchbooks are useful (and memorable!). There is a wide variety of custom matchbooks to choose from to suit your tastes. Some favorites are here and here. What better way to express to your guests that you are a perfect match?

If you have a love for traveling and want to incorporate that into your wedding, luggage tag favors are a great way to share your zest for adventure with your guests. If you are having a destination wedding, offering luggage tags as favors is fitting (and functional!). These double as escort cards and have an additional insert for your guests to fill out with their own information for their traveling needs.

Having a destination or summer wedding? If so, sunglasses would be a practical favor option for your guests. You can also have the sunglasses available for your guests as they arrive to your ceremony so that they are not squinting to watch you exchange your vows. These are available to be personalized and come in a variety of fun colors. If you would prefer a neutral option, you can try these. Sunglasses are always a necessity and you can guarantee that your guests will use them after the festivities have come to an end.

Partying all night can make for a rough morning and by providing hangover kits as favors to your guests, you can help to make their mornings a little bit easier. There are many options available for personalized bags or boxes and you can even order personalized water bottle labels to provide with your hangover kits. Some ideas for hangover kit fillers are small bottles of aspirin, some mints or gum, mini mouthwashes, vitamin C tablets, or small snacks. Your guests will be eternally grateful for offering these as favors!

If your celebration continues late into the night, providing midnight snacks as favors will make everyone happy (and grateful!). With sweet treats as your favors, you will not have to worry them being overlooked by your guests and it is a guarantee that they will be enjoyed. Most Krispy Kreme locations offer individually packaged donuts as a catering option. Another tasty idea is to serve mini pies as favors. If you are the DIY type, Our Best Bites has a great recipe for single serving pies here. If the DIY route is not for you, you can contact local bakeries to see if they have any mini pie options.

Another fail proof favor option is cookies. If you want to go the custom route, there is a wide variety of personalized cookie options available to choose from. Beau-coup offers quite a few options for personalized cookies, including ones that can be decorated with your monogram or other fun bridal themed designs and these sweet macarons. Another popular favor idea is to have a cookies and milk bar for guests at the end of the night. What can be better than post-party cookies and milk?!

Do you and your spouse-to-be have a favorite hot sauce or jam? Miniature bottles of your favorite condiments for your guests to take home as favors are another great favor option. You can even personalize the labels to further commemorate your special day. The same goes for favorite beverages. Did you and your significant other bond over coffee or craft beers? If so, try sharing this memory by gifting your guests with small packets of coffee beans or bottles of your favorite beer. Even if it may seem a little out there, you can never go wrong if it embodies a special memory or aspect of your relationship.

While favors are fun and provide memories for your guests, you should not feel required to have them at your wedding. The only reason you should be providing favors is because you want to and not because you feel obligated to. Personally, I love the idea of providing unique favors to your guests, however if for personal (or budgetary!) reasons you would prefer not to have them, own your choice — it is your wedding after all!

Did you have favors at your wedding? If so, what did you have?

Amanda + Richie //Coronado Community Center

I knew I wanted to work with Amanda from the very first time we spoke with each other – she had the sweetest persona, and was so excited to be planning her wedding with Richie. Amanda & Richie drove from Arizona a few days before their wedding, and they were incredibly relaxed/laid back to have drove such a far distance for their wedding! I really enjoyed working with these two, and I know that they relished every second of their wedding day, if it isn’t obvious enough from the photos:) Congrats again, Amanda & Richie – you two were a blast to work with, and I am so happy for you both!

Colleen & Sam were one of the most laid back couples I was fortunate enough to work with last year. The week of their wedding, we were a little concerned about the weather (it actually rained a bit at their rehearsal), but thankfully, there was no rain on their wedding day! There was a bit of cloudiness, but as you can see from the photos, everything turned out wonderfully. I think that my favorite part from their wedding was during the recessional. Because Colleen & Sam were blending their families together, they had their children join them on the walk out to signify that they were a new family. It was quite touching! I’m so excited to share these photos with you all – enjoy!

Love Marks the Spot’s Best of 2015 in Review

Wow – 2015 has been QUITE the year! I’m so thankful to have worked with so many amazing couples and talented vendors this year. Before we start on weddings, I think it is important to recap a few internal notes that were imperative to our success this year:

A special thank you to our interns that were with us all year, Mesha and Nini. Mesha has graduated to become an Associate Planner within LMTS for 2016 (yay!) and Nini has moved on to persue a career in dance (can’t wait to see her on So You Think You Can Dance in 2017!). We also welcomed a few new interns: Ashlee (former bride turned friend/intern!), Phoenix and Veronica to our team. Together we make quite the team, and I’m so excited for the new additions and continued growth of the team. I’m extremely proud/happy to say that we’re recipients of The Knot’s Best of 2016 Weddings and WeddingWire’s Couple’s Choice Awards. It makes ME so happy to know that we’ve made our CLIENTS so happy. We’re looking to soar to new heights in 2016, and I just wanted to take a moment to recognize (and thank) the great team we have in place, as well as the awesome vendor’s we’ve worked with (you guys rock, and thank you for making our jobs easier and much more FUN)!

So without further adieu, here are some of our favorites from 2016:

Favorite Dress

Favorite Getting Ready Moment:

San Diego Wedding PlannerAny bride knows that getting ready is probably the most stressful time of your wedding day. With everyone crowded into the bride’s suite, food and drinks out and clothes/shoes sprinkled around, there’s a lot going on. That’s why we love this photo by Justice Photography (yes again, because Sage is that amazing and we love him). It removes the bride (Ashlee) from the chaos, and we have a wonderful shot of the bride alone, reflecting. Fun fact – Ashlee’s groom was at the opposite side of the hotel, so she had her BMs check to confirm he was not on his balcony and wouldn’t see them shooting this photo.

Favorite Flowers

Every time I think of the flowers at Amanda’s wedding, I swoon. They were gorgeous!! Her entire wedding was gorgeous. Carla Kayes Floral Design did a wonderful job creating the best floral aesthetic we’ve seen all year. Photo credit to Allie Lindsey Photography.

Best Kiss

Screen Shot 2015-07-17 at 9.13.38 PMRight as Travis and Alissa were pronounced husband and wife, it started pouring down rain (though you’d never be able to tell from their kiss!). If you look really hard at this photo, you can see rain splatters all over Travis’s suit jacket, and guests popping up their umbrellas in the background. Photo by Meghan G Photography.

Favorite Candid Moment

IMG_4942Seeing the bride & groom walk back down the aisle together after being pronounced husband and wife is one of my favorite moments at each wedding. I LOVE that you can see how happy Whitney & Matt are in this photo, he’s even giving someone a thumb’s up! Love it! Photo credit to Hannah Costello.

Favorite Escort Card Alternative

Ryan&Mel_Wedding_PhotogFav-119We loved Melissa & Ryan’s idea to use Polaroid photos as escort cards. Melissa had wedding guests send over the photo they wanted used in advance, and it turned out great if we do say so ourselves! Photo credit to Local Focus Photography.

Favorite Guestbook Alternative

IMG_5897Jacky & Ryan’s beer cap guestbook fit right in with their wedding at Green Flash Brewery. Guests were asked to sign beer caps and press them in according to where they’re from on their US shaped guestbook. Photo credit to Hannah Costello.

Favorite Wedding Theme

0071Brittany_Adam_pfOur team unanimously loved Brittany & Adam’s nautical So-Cal themed wedding. The tables were outfitted with navy blue pintuck linens, and all of the centerpieces had hints of succulents, driftwood, fish and bottles. It was absolutely gorgeous! Photo credit to True Photography.

Thank you all again so much for your love and support in 2015 – we’ll see you next year!

The two adjectives that come to mind when I think of Brittany & Adam are fun-loving and oh-so-in-love. One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing the groomsmen throw rose petals an the ground when they walked down the aisle – SO FUNNY!!! On their wedding day, there was only room for love and positivity – and boy could you feel it! These two were so happy, and the LMTS team is lucky to have been a part of such a love-filled day. I’m so excited to share these gorgeous photos of Brittany & Adam’s beautiful nautical SoCal wedding. Enjoy!

I knew I’d love working with Amanda from the very first time I spoke with her. Not only is she the sweetest bride I’ve ever had the chance to work with – I think that she is the sweetest person I’ve ever met in my entire life, EVER. Together her and Mark make an adorable couple. I had a really hard time picking which photos to share with you because Amanda and Mark just look so darn happy and in love in every single photo (thank you Allie Lindsey Photography)! Their wedding was on a ridiculously hot October day (seriously, it was 100 degrees), and I never heard either of these two complain – not once. On top of that, they looked fabulous the whole day!! So without further adieu, please enjoy these photos of Amanda & Mark’s beautiful wedding. Congrats again you two, it was truly a pleasure to be a part of your special day!

Jacky & Ryan//Green Flash Brewery

Jacky & Ryan//Green Flash Brewery

Jacky & Ryan are by far one of the coolest couples I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. During our first meeting, they told me that they’d selected Green Flash to be their wedding venue because it was Ryan’s favorite brewery, and they wanted their guests to enjoy some of San Diego’s finest craft beer. All of our meetings were centered around good food and drinks, which was so great, because it truly felt like we were just hanging out and discussing their wedding as old friends. They both share an awesome sense of humor, and it was obvious that these two were made for each other. After the wedding rehearsal I asked Ryan how he was feeling about their wedding day, and he told me that he couldn’t wait to marry Jacky, and that he’d been so excited for the past few days that he could barely sleep. When he told me that, I had to try my very hardest not to cry because that is literally the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard a groom say about his bride. Fast forward to their wedding day – it was a blast! I frequently joked with Jacky & Ryan that their wedding was a “fancy picnic” because they’d selected rustic picnic tables adorned with natural, organic looking flowers. There were a few touches of burlap with lace, and great tacos (from Salud!) and cold brews from Green Flash. Everyone had a great time, and love was definitely in the air. Congrats again, Jacky & Ryan!

Sara & Jamie//Callaway Winery

Sara & Jamie//Callaway Winery

I knew that I wanted to work with Sara from the first contact we had with each other. We had an instant connection, and bonded over our love of wine:) Anyone who meets Sara & Jamie is sure to know they’re head over heels for one another. They’re such a goofy, happy couple, and they’re always cracking jokes on one another. Sara & Jamie’s wedding was especially touching to me, because they were blending a family together. Jamie’s three daughters were the flower girls for their wedding, and you could tell that they were so excited to “officially” welcome Sara into their family. The ceremony was simple, filled with funny stories and sprinkled with emotion. I usually tear up during the wedding ceremony, but I’ll be honest – I had a lot of tears come out for Sara & Jamie. Jamie’s brother was the officiant and did a wonderful job with the ceremony. My favorite part of the day was when Jamie surprised Sara by serenading her with none other than The Cutting Crew’s “I just died in Your Arms” (with backup vocals by his Best Man Will, of course). I absolutely loved everything about their wedding, and I’m so happy to share Sara & Jamie’s wedding with you all!San Diego Wedding PlannerSan Diego Wedding Planner

Whitney + Matt//The Crossings

Whitney + Matt//The Crossings

I cannot say enough good things about Whitney and Matt. They’re amazing individuals who are even better together as a couple. During our meetings, Whitney would always put an emphasis on wanting their wedding guests to have a good time. I don’t think I’ve ever seen wedding guests have so much fun. Not only did were there an abundance of lawn games, a photobooth and ice cream sandwich station to keep their guests happy – Whitney & Matt wrapped up the night by challenging guests to a game of Flip Cup. A special shoutout Hannah Costello for doing such a fantastic job with the photos! Enjoy, friends!

April & Kurt // Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club

April & Kurt’s wedding was a beautiful event to segway us into the summer season. The week of their wedding, the weather was unseasonably warm. They day of their wedding, the weather was a bit less hot, which I think, is a good omen:) April was the sweetest bride, and you could see the love Kurt had for her whenever he’d look at her. It was definitely a love-filled event! That said – I’m so excited to share photos from their wedding with you all – enjoy!
